Once, I was sitting on a beach and staring towards the infinite sea. A calmness was over my face, which provoked my friend to ask me what I was thinking about. And I said, “Nothing. I’m just watching the endless sea, no other thoughts.”
Then I gave a thought to how we feel different emotions and realized that we experience the purest form of any emotion when we are completely in the present moment, Be it sadness or happiness.The calm I experienced at the moment mentioned before was because my mind was not thinking about the past nor the future. I was devoid of all the worries and calm.
Probably this is the reason why we are always looking for getaways. The getaway could be of any form- Traveling to hills, a hobby, a movie, a simple walk with a friend.They provide us a similar opportunity to escape the worries.All these have a thing in common, that we are totally ‘there’ in the moment that is why probably we cherish those moments more.
When we say that someone loves his/her work, it’s because they are doing it wholeheartedly by being in the moment rather than just getting through the day.
Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now and be ‘here’. Don’t wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it’s at work or at anything else. Savor every minute.
