Mussoorie : Camel Back Road

There is nothing more soothing than a peaceful walk among the nature and Camel Back road provides such a location in Mussoorie. The walk offers a breathtaking wide view of Himalayas and snow clad peaks ( if the season is right ). But irrespective of the season, the experience of walking there is unparalleled.

It’s a 3 km long road named so because of shape of a rock on the Hill separating the mall road and this road.

There are Hotels and shops on the outer 300-400 m of the road on either ends  but apart from that you’ll not see many people on the road and can enjoy the serene and peaceful walk.

There are few relaxing spots on the road as well where you can stop for a tea break and enjoy the beautiful valley view while having warm tea.

This is an ideal place to take morning/evening walk. So, even if someone is staying on Mall road, just get up, brush, put on your shoes and head for the walk. One can also hire bicycles for the drive. There are few guides with small telescopes on some points of the road who would show you some important peaks and points and also enriching you about the history associated with those places.

So if anyone visits Mussoorie, don’t forget to take the long walk on this lonely road with beautiful scenery.

As Robert frost wrote –

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
